Mitt Endorsed by pro-LGBT Log Cabin Republicans

In his 1994 US Senate campaign, Mitt wrote a letter to the Log Cabin Republicans pledging to seek full equality for the LGBT community, earning their endorsement for his campaign. In the same letter, he claimed he would be more supportive than his opponent — Ted Kennedy — on issues of LGBT equality.

Romney Received An Endorsement From The Log Cabin Republicans. According to the Boston Globe, “Shortly after he won the GOP nomination to run against US Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, conservative businessman Mitt Romney - who is viewed with suspicion by some gays - wrote to the Log Cabin Club, a group of politically active gay Republicans, to assure them that ‘as we seek to establish full equality for America’s gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent.’ The group has since endorsed Romney.” [Boston Globe, 10/17/94]
